Face-to-face Orientation for Freshmen and new Students

Department of Agriculture Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) Director Dr. Junel B. Soriano visited the University of Southern Mindanao last July 21-22, 2022. He was accompanied by Mr. Wilson G. Viloria II and Mr. Glan Carlo Espiritu. The visit is a testament to the strong partnership between DA-BAR and USM. According to Dr. Soriano, USM is one of the major recipients of DA-BAR funding, with 22 funded projects in the year 2022.
Dr. Soriano and his company also visited the different projects, including the Corn Integrated Building, R&D Display Center, High Value Processing Center, Biotechnology Center, Geographic Information Support System (GISS) Building, Crops Research Building and Organic Agriculture. They also learned about other funded projects including the Tuklas Lunas Center. Dr. Soriano was very impressed with the research-based outputs and with the future directions expressed by USM researchers. He solicited further proposals with assurance that DA-BAR will continue to support USM projects particularly in rice, corn, high value crops and organic agriculture.
