Kabacan, Cotabato- SOXAARRDEC thru its Consortium Director, Dr. Josephine R. Migalbin together with the President of the University of Southern Mindanao, the host institution of the Consortium, Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia, welcomed the directors from Isabela State University (ISU) on August 22, 2022.

Dr. Jonathan N. Nayga, the dean of the College of Agriculture and the director for Cagayan Valley Small Ruminants Research Center at ISU led the Capability Building on Technology Business Incubation for Technology Generators. He discussed the importance of research to proceed to commercialization and its processes. Dr. Nayga underscored that the conduct of the capability building should not only stop from appreciation, but the practices shared must be implemented with full commitment and passion.

Dr. Isagani P. Angeles Jr., the dean of the Institute of Fisheries, university director of Public Relations and External Linkages and the director of Cagayan Valley Freshwater and Fisheries Center of ISU, was the resource person for the Proposal Packaging for Eel and Tilapia Research. A proposal made through collaboration of participants from USM, BFAR, SCSC and CSU was packaged at the end of the training to be submitted to DOST-PCAARRD.

The activity aims to capacitate the technology generators and the fisheries faculty researchers in the region through the invited experts from ISU. The participants of the simultaneous training were the technology generators of the Consortium Member Institutions (CMIs) to wit, University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), South Cotabato State College (SCSC), Cotabato State University (CSU), PhilRice-Midsayap, Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR 12), and incubatees of USM- Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator.

President Garcia expressed his gratitude to the resource persons in his closing remarks. He highlighted the significance of building linkages as well as the collaboration that needs to be strengthened in the region.

Arrival honors for the visitors was conducted during the convocation program in front of the Administration building of USM.
