April 4, 2024 | The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) XII- Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI), along with DOST XII, inspected the Philippine Industrial Crops Research Institute (PICRI) Office in Lumayong Carmen, Cotabato, to ensure the readiness of the building for the implementation of the Regional Yarn Production Innovation Center (RYPIC) set to commence in June 2024.

During the discussion, Dr. Debbie Marie B. Verzosa, the Vice President for Research Development and Extension (VPRDE), extended her appreciation to PTRI for considering USM to be the recipient of the project. “I can see the potential of this project, not just for USM, but also to increase productivity and provide a livelihood to our community and to restore industry here in Mindanao”. She spoke. 

Dir. Michael T. Mayo, the Provincial S&T Director of Cotabato Province, with Henry Listano and Harold Knaff Caballero of DOST-PTRI and Sittie Aleah Mungkas of DOST XII, graced the inspection. 

Dr. Lydia Pascual, the USM Research and Development Office Director, expressed her gratitude for the financial support of Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño Mendoza and Mayor Evangeline P. Guzman for RYPIC. 

The newly hired personnel for the project, who will undergo training in the coming months, attended the activity and signed their contracts during the activity.
