Two short films made by The Mindanao Tech were shortlisted as finalists in the Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 Film Festival whose awarding ceremony will take place on March 24, 2023 at SM Cinema, General Santos City.
Cotabato Provincial Police Office (CPPO) chose Mintech as its partner to represent the province in the first-ever film festival. PCapt. April Rose T. Soria and PCMS Rey Mark B. Cadiz met with Mintech adviser and staffers on February 11 to discuss the details of the partnership including the deliverables.
With less than a month left, the filmmakers from the multimedia section of Mintech and the police force of CPPO headed by Provincial Director Col. Harold S. Ramos collaborated in bringing from reel to real two stories that would represent Cotabato Province to the film festival.

In the film, Ronie Mampurok (Moh. Esmail Jimlah II) is a member of the Tagabawa-Bagobo tribe who dreams of becoming a policeman someday. Growing up, he is exposed to the recruitment and atrocities caused by the New Peopleโ€™s Army in his hometown and his fellow indigenous people. Armed with big dreams, Ronie and his childhood friends (Karrenne Torilla and Mark Alolor) enroll at the University of Southern Mindanao. While at school, Ronie receives a bad news that forces him to head back home and check his parents (Dixter Noa and Lea Mae Mendoza). Unfortunately, upon reaching home, Ronie learns that his parents are harassed by the NPA and their house destroyed. This incident further ignites Ronieโ€™s dream to join the ranks of the Philippine National Police. He then embarks on a journey to become their barangayโ€™s first IP policeman and dedicates his life to put a stop on the communist insurgency.
โ€œ๐—ญ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐Ÿฏ ๐—•๐—ผ๐˜†๐˜€โ€ made it as finalist in the Out-of-School Youth category. The story recounts the story of a street gang composed of out-of-school youth boys led by Abdul (Al Sophy Abdulrahman). After getting involved in a fight, Abdul calls his friends Esmail (Reynald Macmod) and Wanggo (Christian Jay Esparagosa) and decides to settle matters with another gang once and for all. Warring gangs meet, but the police apprehend Abdul. Matters get worse when a sachet of shabu is found in his possession. However, what could have been Adbulโ€™s downfall becomes his source of motivation. Abdul realizes the folly of his mistakes and starts to change his ways and life. Former classmates and friends (Jannah Akmad and Asra Mae Gapor) witness the improvement in Adbulโ€™s life. He starts going back to the mosque to pray, caring for his ailing mother, and volunteering to BIDA and Service with a HEART programs of the Philippine National Police.
