KABACAN, Cotabato — The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) “Project CEIntrix: Science Education and Innovation through Robotix” rolled out its Component 3, “CEInTRix.techTrain: Robotics Capacity Building and Hands-on Training for Science Educators” on September 18, 2026, at the i-SMART Center, College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT), University of Southern Mindanao (USM).

Gathering Special Science Elementary Teachers from Kabacan Pilot Central School, the training aims to equip participants with valuable knowledge and skills in robotics, coding, and basic electronics.

The training started with a pre-test survey to measure the participants’ baseline knowledge on robotics, coding, and basic electronics.

Engr. Melecio A. Cordero, Component 1 Leader, formally opened the program and presented the rationale of the activity.

“Magandang araw po sa ating lahat and welcome sa ating training. We are here today for a very important agenda, and that is to equip you with technical know-hows on specialized topics na makatutulong sa pag-build ng inyong foundational knowledge lalo na sa Robotics,” he said.

This was followed by the official training sessions, featuring Engr. Nico Jim Varon and Dr. Maricel G. Dayaday, who facilitated discussions titled “Coding Robots, Coding Lessons” and “Soldering Fundamentals: Theory, Techniques, and Hands-On Application.” The discussions were backed up with a hands-on workshop to allow participants to apply theoretical concepts directly to hardware and coding exercises.

Concluding the training, a post-test survey was facilitated.

The training was successfully implemented through the participation of Engr. Jay Ar P. Esparcia and Engr. Vhon Bryan Silvano from the Department of Computer Engineering, who served as training facilitators.

As Project CEIntrix nears its completion, Component 4, “CEInTRix.innoTeach,” is set to be implemented to foster classroom innovation through the integration of robotics.
