The SOCCSKSARGEN Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (SOXAARRDEC) showcased the technologies and innovations of its Consortium Member Institutions (CMIs) at the Davao Agri Trade Expo (DATE) 2026, held from September 17 to 19, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang, Davao City.
Led by Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele, Consortium Director, SOXAARRDEC joined the three-day expo to showcase promising agricultural technologies and innovations from the SOCCSKSARGEN Region while strengthening linkages among research institutions, industry partners, investors, and other stakeholders.
For three days of the expo, SOXAARRDEC, alongside the four other Mindanao Consortia, SMAARRDEC, WESMAARRDEC, NOMCAARRD, and CCAARRD, in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), featured technologies developed by member institutions. Among the featured innovations were the Feed Prime Application of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), IRISDD of the Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), and Palaypel of the South Cotabato State College.
The showcase provided an avenue to highlight how research and development outputs can be translated into practical technologies and potential opportunities for commercialization, investment, and wider adoption in the agricultural sector.
The participation culminated in the AgriTech Venture and Innovation Pitch held on September 19, which featured the Feed Prime Application of USM, presented by Prof. Ryan Z. Gonzaga, and Palaypel of South Cotabato State College, presented by Jeffer Kitz Cuales.
The pitching competition was conducted as part of the collaborative efforts of DOST-PCAARRD and the five regional consortia in Mindanao, SMAARRDEC, SOXAARRDEC, CCAARRD, WESMAARRDEC, and NOMCAARRD, to promote research-based technologies and create stronger connections between innovators, potential investors, and industry stakeholders.
The initiative also highlighted the important role of science, technology, and innovation in advancing a more productive, resilient, and sustainable agricultural sector in Mindanao.
