General Marc “GM” Manero Bangoy, a student of the University Laboratory School of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), once again brought pride and honor after an outstanding performance in the Archery event of the Palarong Pambansa held in Agusan del Sur from May 27 to 31, 2026.

Bangoy won two gold medals and four silver medals in various distance categories. Among his achievements, he considered his gold medal in the Olympic Round as his proudest victory during the competition.

The achievement became even more meaningful as Bangoy recently celebrated his 17th birthday on March 31. He described the medals as one of the greatest gifts he has received so far.

Following his success at the Palarong Pambansa, the ULS STEM student, is set to compete in several international archery events. As the Philippines’ top-ranked youth archer, he will participate in the national ranking event in Sorsogon on June 6, 2026.

Moreover, Bangoy will also represent the country in the Singapore Archery Youth Open 2026, scheduled on July 3–5, 2026.

In addition, Bangoy earned a spot in the 2026 World Archery Asia (WAA) President’s Challenge Cup and Joint Training Programme in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which will take place from July 30 to August 2, 2026.

The opportunity is reserved only for the top-ranked boy and girl athletes in the youth division. World Archery Philippines and the Philippine Sports Commission selected the qualifiers based on results from a series of ranking competitions in 2025. Bangoy worked hard through these events and secured his top ranking during the final selection held in January 2026.
