The six foundation courses of the College of Agriculture (CA)—Crop Protection, Crop Science, Soil Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Extension Communication, and Agricultural Economics and Marketing—underwent monitoring and inspection by the Professional Regulatory Board of Agriculture on April 16, 2026, at the Accreditation Room of CA, USM, in Kabacan, Cotabato.

Dr. Emma K. Sales, Chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board of Agriculture under the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), and Dr. Eric P. Palacpac, OIC-Chief of the Research and Development Division (RDD) of the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC), led the inspection.

Program chairpersons and faculty members of the BS Agriculture foundation courses presented relevant documents to the monitoring team, including instructional materials, faculty development plans, faculty assignments, and lists of research and extension projects.

According to Dr. Joan P. Sadoral, College Extension Coordinator, the monitoring aims to assess the alignment of faculty members handling courses and ensure vertical articulation across subjects. It also includes the inspection of facilities, such as laboratories and greenhouses, to ensure that they are functioning properly and effectively support student learning. She added that instructional materials are also reviewed to ensure alignment with the Table of Specifications (TOS) set by the PRC.

If these are properly followed and taught, they will greatly help students who will take the Licensure Examination for Agriculturists,” she explained.

Dr. Efren E. Magulama, College Dean, expressed his gratitude to the PRC for conducting the activity. He also thanked the faculty members for preparing and submitting the required documents for the inspection. He said he looks forward to the implementation of the recommendations from the Professional Regulatory Board of Agriculture, with support from the administration.

Relatively, the USM College of Agriculture is currently awaiting the results of its application for Center of Excellence status.
