A new international partnership is now in place between the College of Medicine of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) of Malaysia, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on April 15, 2026, in Cotabato City.

The agreement opens opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in faculty exchange, joint research, and the conduct of academic and specialized seminars. It also allows for the possible offering of each other’s academic programs, subject to approval from their respective higher education authorities.

Student exchange is also included in the partnership, covering both short-term and long-term academic engagements. In addition, the MOU provides for training, clinical attachments, and other areas of cooperation that may be mutually agreed upon.

The agreement will be in effect for five years and may be extended.

Representatives from both UniSZA and USM attended the signing, while some participants joined the ceremony via Zoom.
