During the opening program, Atty. Mario Bello Jr., the university legal officer, represented President Garcia and emphasized the gratitude of the academe to the experts from UP Baguio.

“Rest assured that the university is supportive in promoting the culture by establishing a museum in the university that aims to preserve the cultural heritage that we have.” He ended.

The ocular inspection and evaluation of the USM Cultural Museum transpired in the morning. Dr. Amores presented her recommendations for the development of the USM’s museum. She enumerated the primary factors that the university should prepare, to wit, collection policy, advisory committee, and the structure and design of the museum.

Dir. Martinez highlighted in her message that the goal of preserving the USM’s cultural heritage and its significance to the academe and the museum as a learning resource of the community is an exciting challenge. She added that she is positive that changes could be achieved with everyone working together.

We are glad that we are part of the [Museum Management] Training where we learned a lot from that experience. As part of giving back, we will apply what we learned to the university.” She concluded.

MMT3 is under the StudyPh Grant of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) implemented by UP Baguio where USM is one of the three Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Mindanao, together with Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) and Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) that benefited since its Year 1.
