For the first time in its history, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) will hold the 74th Commencement Exercises virtually on Tuesday, July 28 at 7 in the morning.

USM will confer academic degrees on 1,131 candidates for graduation. Leading the Class 2020 are 3 magna cum laude, 15 cum laude, 5 with academic distinctions, 1 with high honors, and 12 with honors.

Hon. Karlo Alexei B. Nograles, cabinet secretary, is the guest of distinction. Meanwhile, Hon. William D. Dar, Department of Agriculture secretary, is this year’s commencement speaker.

Adhering to the health and safety protocols set by the COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force, the University is limiting the attendance strictly to the administrative officials.

Students are encouraged to tune in with their families for the baccalaureate speeches by 6:30 am and the live ceremony at 7:00 am. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Facebook, on DXVL Radyo Pilipinas 94.9, and USM LED billboard wall.

USM is also set to confer Doctor of Education major in Educational Management Honoris Causa to Hon. Jose I. Tejada, representative of 3rd district of North Cotabato. Consistent with the University’s vision and mission, Tejada is a remarkable legislator whose contributions to the education sector have greatly benefited USM.
