The University of Southern Mindanao’s approach to enhancing the quality of education extends to the quality of graduates it produces. The year 2018 welcomed to the Hall of Topnotchers seven successful USM graduates who did not only pass the board exams but earned a spot in the top ten.

USM produced seven topnotchers in two board exams for 2018 – three from the College of Education Main Campus in the September 2018 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and four from the College of Arts and Sciences in the October 2018 Chemical Technician Licensure Examination.

Leading the USM topnotchers in 2018 is Ashley Coleen S. Ortiz, a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics from the College of Education, who earned the second spot in the September 2018 LET with a rating of 92.60%. Ortiz who was named the Outstanding Student of the Year after a successful term as the University Student Government president also graduated as magna cum laude with a GPA of 1.4352 in June 2018.

Renold M. Magluyan, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry graduate from the College of Arts and Sciences, earned the Top 5 in the October 2018 Chemical  Technician Licensure Examination with a rating of 90.00%.

Cyril John G. Jasareno, also a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry graduate, bagged the sixth place in the Chemical Technician Licensure Exam with a score of 89.50%. Jasareno was the lone magna cum laude graduate of BS Chemistry last year with a GPA of 1.4754.

Genemar F. Cimafranca, a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino graduate, was the seventh placer in the September 2018 LET with 91.60% rating. Cimafranca graduated as cum laude with a GPA of 1.7144.

Wrendell C. Juntilla, a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics graduate from the College of Education, also placed seventh with a rating of 91.60%. Juntilla graduated as magna cum laude with a GPA of 1.4581.

Jaryl T. Jihad, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, earned the ninth spot in the Chemical Technician Licensure Exam with 88.00% rating.

Ismael G. Pangandigan, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry graduate, landed as Top 10 in the Chemical Technician Licensure Exam with a rating of 87.50%. Pangandigan graduated as cum laude with a GPA of 1.6518.
