The University of Southern Mindanao once again produced a topnotcher, 18 new veterinarians, and 28 new nutritionist-dietitians from two licensure exams conducted this month.

Jan Clyden B. Tenorio ranked fourth in the August 2019 Veterinarian Licensure Examination given by the Board of Veterinary Medicine of the Phillipine Regulation Commission (PRC). With a rating of 84.90%, Tenorio, the former USM student regent, led the 18 new veterinarians produced by the USM College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) which registered a passing rate of 47.37%.

Five hundred sixteen of 1,057 takers passed this year’s licensure exam for veterinarians, the PRC said. Dr. Emerlie Okit, dean of CVM, celebrated this good news especially that the passing rate this year is significantly higher than last year’s 42.86%.

Meanwhile, the College of Human Ecology and Food Sciences (CHEFS) scored 28 successful passers with a rating of 58.33% in the August 2019 Nutritionist-Dietitian Licensure Exam. PRC announced that 968 out of 1,517 takers passed this year’s exam.

Dr. Urduja Nacar, dean of CHEFS, was elated with this news since USM has consistently produced a pass rate not less than 50% each year.

USM President Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia considered this as both a blessing and a challenge for the University, the faculty, and the students to be inspired by continuing the hardwork and constantly improving the board exam passing rates.
