The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), through Dr. Jalaloden B. Marohom, the Head of the Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer, Business Development Office (IPTTBDO), presented the USMart Technology Business Incubator (USM on Adaptable and Resource-efficient Technologies – TBI) project, together with the TBI members on April 15, 2024, via zoom.

As approved, the USMart TBI will be funded worth Php13.4M pesos by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD).

Through the implementation of the project, regional and provincial hackathons, boot camps, design thinking, and pitching competitions will be conducted. USMart TBI aims to develop and assist homegrown and early-stage startups, not only USM but the whole of Region XII.

Headed by Dr. Marohom, along with the TBI Members: Engr. Maricel G. Dayaday, Dr. Nerissa G. Dela Viña, Dr. Romiel John P. Basan, Prof. Danilyn A. Flores, and Entrepreneur in residence, Mr. Christopher G. Francisco, the project will focus on information sharing and analytics, tracking and traceability, access to market and finance, and sustainability of agri-food sector in the region.

With its banner program on ICT Solutions for Inclusive Agri-food Value Chain, the determined project team will establish the startup ecosystem that will provide livelihood opportunities and create jobs in the community.
