LAKAS PARTY

Platforms
  • One Vision: enhancement of student’s engagement
Focuses on strengthening connections and bond within the USG, ASG, LSG, and other campus groups.

    • A. Quarterly Inter-Council Summits:
Host regular meetings between the USG and local student leaders to share best practices, align on advocacy priorities, and ensure that grievances from the “grassroots” (the students) are heard at the highest level.
  • The “Inclusive Campus” Initiative
Building on your work with programs like Pakaragyan, this pillar focuses on making USM a home for every student, regardless of background or belief.

    • A. Institutionalized Cultural Support:
Standardizing the partnership between the USG and sectoral organizations (like USMMUSA) for major cultural and religious observances to ensure they are funded and recognized annually.
    • B. Safe Space Policy:
Drafting a resolution to enhance campus facilities for prayer, meditation, and quiet study across all colleges.
  • Responsive Governance & Transparency
This pillar aims to make the USG more accessible to the “average” student who may feel disconnected from the Senate.

    • A. Digital Resolution Tracker
Implementing an online dashboard where students can see the status of every USG resolution—from “Drafting” to “Implementation”—to ensure accountability.
    • B. The “Senator’s Hour”
Establishing regular, informal consultative meetings in different colleges to gather grassroots feedback before drafting new policies.
  • The “Greener USM” (Sustainability & Campus Ecology)
    • A. Waste-to-Resource Program
Initiating a circular economy project where cafeteria organic waste is processed into vermicompost by agriculture students, which is then used to maintain the university’s own landscapes.
    • B. The “Sustainable Student” Certification
Partnering with the administration to create a sustainability seal for student organizations. Groups that reduce paper waste, minimize single-use plastics during events, and engage in campus greening activities receive additional support or recognition in their annual assessments.
