KIDAPAWAN CITY — The University of Southern Mindanao’s (USM) “Project CEInTRix: Science Education and Innovation Through Robotics” successfully rolled out the Division Training on Integrating Robotics in Math and Science Education (IRMSE) on September 11–13, 2026, at Parklay Suites, Kidapawan City.
The three-day training gathered Science and Mathematics teachers from various schools across Cotabato Province.
USM, through its experts from the College of Engineering and Information Technology, served as plenary speakers. The roster included Project Leader Dr. Maricel G. Dayaday, alongside Component Leaders Engr. Jay Ar P. Esparcia and Engr. Nico Jim L. Varon, who provided comprehensive lecture sessions on the Concept of Robotics Integration in STEM, Key Concepts and Strategies for Integrating Robotics, and Coding and Programming.
The discussions were paired with practical demonstrations to bridge theory and application. This segment was led by Engr. Niel G. Fordan and supported by student facilitators Mr. John Carlo Sales, Mr. Kent Dominic Luzon, and Mr. Mike Torentera. Guided by the facilitators, participants translated the discussed concepts into actual classroom-oriented learning activities.
Project Leader Dr. Dayaday expressed gratitude to DepEd SDO Cotabato as the training concluded: “We are deeply grateful to Education Program Supervisor Ms. Lanie G. Forro and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Romelito G. Flores for giving our project the opportunity to equip Science and Math teachers in Cotabato. May this training empower everyone and create a lasting impact as you bring this knowledge and these skills to your classrooms.”
The training reinforced a shared commitment between USM and DepEd SDO Cotabato to make Science, Mathematics, and Technology education more engaging, experiential, and responsive to the demands of an increasingly technology-driven learning environment. Through initiatives such as Project CEInTRix, USM continues to bring engineering expertise beyond the university and bridge the gap between academic innovation and classroom instruction.
