Mohammad Yusop, a graduate of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT), brought pride to the university as he won the grand prize with a ₱1 million cash prize in the Animation Category of the Young Creatives Challenge Season – Regular Edition held at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City.
Competing alongside young creatives from across the country, Yusop, a graduate of BS Computer Science, impressed the judges with his animated entry titled Hapag, earning the top recognition in the nationwide competition.
Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its Malikhaing Pinoy Program, with support from Senator Imee Marcos, the Young Creatives Challenge provides young Filipino artists with a platform to showcase their talent, develop their creative potential, and gain national recognition.
Aside from Animation, the Regular Edition featured competitions in Game Development, Graphic Novel, Online Content Creation, Playwriting, Screenwriting, and Songwriting. The program also includes separate editions for elementary and high school students, encouraging creativity across different age groups.
The Department of Computing and Library Information Science (DCLIS) and the Philippine Society of Information Technology Students (PSITS) of USM expressed congratulations to Yusop for bringing pride to the department and their student society.
