USM Participates in PEHEIC 2nd Quarter Meeting

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), through its Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer, and Business Development Office (IPTTBDO), strengthened its capacity in intellectual property management and innovation support by participating in the Foundation Course on Intellectual Property and Introduction to New Product Development (NPD) organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

Held from June 15 to 18, 2026, at the Intellectual Property Center in Taguig City, the four-day intensive training gathered personnel from Innovation and Technology Support Offices (ITSOs) across the country to enhance their understanding of intellectual property and its role in driving innovation and product development.

Representing USM were Dr. Jalaloden B. Marohom, Head of IPTTBDO, together with Engr. Zygote He M. Sorupia, Engr. Marc Macbeth M. Toledo, and Ms. Airah D. Sarip.

Throughout the course, the USM delegates gained practical knowledge and valuable insights on intellectual property protection, technology transfer, and innovation management. They also explored the WIPO Toolkit, a key resource that will help the University provide stronger support to its innovators, researchers, and students.

The training further equipped the IPTTBDO team to advance USM’s innovation initiatives by helping transform research outputs and creative ideas into protected intellectual property assets and market-ready technologies.
