The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) and Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for a five-year partnership focused on research and academic activities in Physical Education and Sports Science.

The partnership highlights both universities’ commitment to academic excellence, research, and collaboration. Through the agreement, USM and DOrSU will work together on research projects and scholarly activities that support the growth of Physical Education and Sports Science.

The collaboration, titled “Partnership for Joint Activities and Research Collaboration in Physical Education and Sports Science,” brings together the expertise of USM’s College of Human Kinetics and Center for Human Kinetics and Wellness Studies and DOrSU’s Faculty of Teacher Education and Physical Education Program.

Under the agreement, both universities will conduct joint research projects, develop publication initiatives, and organize conferences and research forums. They will also exchange research mentors, evaluators, and experts to strengthen research efforts. The partnership encourages resource sharing and the development of research proposals for local and international funding opportunities.

Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, the USM President, stressed the value of strong academic partnerships in addressing emerging challenges in education, health, and sports science. Meanwhile, Dr. Roy G. Ponce, the DOrSU President, expressed confidence that the collaboration will create meaningful opportunities for faculty members and students to take part in relevant and impactful research.

The partnership reflects the shared goal of both institutions to promote innovation, strengthen research, and support evidence-based practices. It also aims to contribute to the continued growth of Physical Education and Sports Science in the Philippines and beyond.

Through this initiative, USM and DOrSU reaffirm their commitment to producing quality research that benefits education, wellness, and communities. As the partnership takes effect, both universities look forward to carrying out more academic and research activities that will expand opportunities for researchers, educators, and students.
