PICRI Turns Over Leadership to New Director
June 10, 2026
The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), through the College of Business, Development Economics, and Management (CBDEM), gained the support of Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kabacan to carry out the CBDEM Delicacies Phase 3 project, an initiative that helps Moro women producers transform traditional Maguindanaon delicacies into sustainable livelihood enterprises.
Discussed during the 45th Regular Session of the Sangguniang Bayan of Kabacan on June 9, 2026, the project, the project, “CBDEM Delicacies: Capacity Building, Demonstration and Enterprise Development of Maguindanaon Delicacies – Phase 3,” is one of USM’s extension initiatives aimed at empowering members of the Kabacan Moro Women’s Organization, Inc. (KMWOI) in Barangay Cuyapon through skills development, enterprise building, and market-oriented interventions.
Through the proposed partnership, USM aims to expand the project’s reach and benefits by giving women producers more opportunities to improve their products, strengthen their business skills, and reach bigger markets. The initiative also helps preserve Maguindanaon food traditions while providing sustainable sources of income for local communities.
Now in its third phase, the project focuses on helping participants grow beyond home-based production and develop products that can compete in larger markets.
Members of the Sangguniang Bayan recognized the project’s potential to further promote Maguindanaon delicacies, which continue to gain popularity in Kabacan and other parts of Mindanao. They also viewed the proposed LGU support as an important step in expanding market opportunities for local producers and sustaining the gains of the program.
Dr. Roy B. Gacus serves as the Project Leader, with Dr. Analyn A. Gonzales, Dr. Esmaira G. Gunsayan, Dr. Irving T. Fajarito Jr., Prof. April Geraldine M. Quiñonero, and Prof. Maribelle Piamonte serving as Component Leaders.
