The Philippine Industrial Crops Research Institute (PICRI) welcomed its newly appointed director on June 9, 2026, at the Extension Services Office (ESO) Conference Room during the University Research and Development Executive Council (URDEC) meeting.
Prof. Bernadith T. Borja has been appointed as PICRI’s new director, succeeding Dr. Tammy C. Solpot. “This is a great opportunity, especially since I will be succeeding a great leader. Rest assured that I will do my best and remain dedicated to advancing industrial crops research in the university,” stated Prof. Borja during the turnover ceremony.
As PICRI transitions to its new leadership, former director Dr. Solpot will be serving as the new dean of the College of Agriculture (CA). “This opportunity is not new to me, given the long-standing partnership between the CA and the Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) unit,” said Dr. Solpot, viewing the new leadership as a seamless continuation of the institute’s shared vision.
Through the turnover ceremony, the Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) unit remained dedicated to fostering strong, forward-thinking leadership that drives the institute toward successfully meeting its goals for its clientele.
