One week after the successful conduct of Session 1, Component 2 of the extension activity, titled “Crafting Your Future: Application Letter Writing Workshop,” continued with its second session, “Practicing Job Interview Skills: Building Confidence, Communication, and Professional Readiness.” The activity, conducted on May 15, 2026, gathered the same PDL participants.

The session was facilitated by Prof. Ronel A. Naringahon, a faculty member from the Department of English Language and Literature, who served as the resource speaker for the activity. During the lecture-workshop, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of professional job interviews, communication etiquette, and appropriate ways of answering common interview questions. The discussion also emphasized the importance of honesty, confidence, clarity of speech, and positive self-presentation when communicating with potential employers.

Participants were guided through interview activities that allowed them to practice responding to interview questions related to their skills, work experiences, strengths, and future goals. The simulated interviews provided the participants with an opportunity to apply the knowledge they gained from the previous session on application letter and resume writing. Through the activity, participants learned how to verbally express the qualifications and experiences they had written in their employment documents.

Feedback and coaching were also provided throughout the workshop to help participants identify areas for improvement in their communication and interview performance. By providing hands-on interview practice and professional guidance, the extension activity reinforced the importance of communication skills and self-presentation in achieving employment readiness. The workshop served as another meaningful step toward empowering PDLs to rebuild their lives and become productive members of the community upon release.

The successful conduct of Session 1 and Session 2 was made possible through the leadership of Prof. Mariz P. Balquin, the extension project leader. Component 2 of the extension project was headed by Prof. Rezeille May C. Amilbahar and facilitated by the Department of English Language and Literature faculty: Prof. Marlyn A. Resurreccion, Prof. Nora B. Bolences, Prof. Ruth S. Gabuat, Prof. April Rose T. Butalid, and Prof. Ronel A. Naringahon.
