The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Reserved Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) unit secured a total of 950.27 points, equivalent to 95.03%, during the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) held on April 22, 2026, at USM in Kabacan, Cotabato.
Col. Ruben G. Aquino GSC (INF) PA of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army, led the inspection and served as Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his address, he underscored the purpose of the activity, saying, “Today, you are not here to be evaluated. You are here to prove your readiness.” He emphasized that the inspection reflects the cadets’ discipline, training, and capability, adding that “inspection does not create standards. It reveals them.”
He further highlighted that the activity serves as a defining moment that demonstrates the cadets’ preparation and character, aligning with the university’s values of excellence, integrity, and service.

Meanwhile, National Service Training Program (NSTP) Director Prof. Bonifacio Solsoloy encouraged the audience to recognize the cadets’ efforts even before the results were released. He remarked, “The roar of applause signifies our confidence that we will exceed the expectations.” He described the inspection as a recognition of the cadets’ dedication and hard work, emphasizing that their performance reflects the effectiveness of the NSTP program and their role as future contributors to nation-building. The unit ultimately validated this confidence by surpassing its previous performance.

University President Dr. Jonald Pimentel also addressed the cadets, encouraging them to demonstrate their learning and training. “This is your time to show what you’ve got, what you’ve learned,” he said. He explained that the inspection assesses the effectiveness of instruction and stressed that beyond skills and knowledge, cadets must embody “patriotism and discipline” as core values.

In the results, the unit earned 197.60 points (98.80%) in General Administration, 235.50 points (94.20%) in the Tactical/Field Test, 373.57 points (93.39%) in the Theoretical and Practical Examination, and 143.60 points (95.73%) in the Comprehensive Examination.
Overall, the USM ROTC unit achieved a 95.03% rating, marking a significant improvement from last year’s 86.43%. The result reflects the unit’s continued development and strengthened performance across all areas of inspection.
