The DXVL 94.9 Kool FM, the radio station of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), celebrated its 19t h anniversary on July 18, 2025, with the theme, “Tinig ng Katotohanan, Daluyan ng Serbisyong Bayan.”
As part of the celebration, the radio station organized Takbo para sa Batang Kabakeño 5K and 10K Fun Run and the Karaoke Idol with the members of the community participating.
During the occasion, Prof. Brex Brayan Nicolas, the station manager, said that the celebration serves as a reminder of every story, every sacrifice, and every triumph of DXVL for two decades now.
“DXVL is not a mere [radio] station, it is a mission, and a reflection of our collective commitment to truth and service to the community,” He spoke.
LtCol Mark Espiritu, Commanding Officer of the 10th Field Artillery Battalion of the Philippine Army, attended the celebration. He expressed his gratitude to the personnel of DXVL for their successful partnership and for serving as a bridge between the Army and the community. He said the station helped them convey their goals, programs, and activities to the public.
Meanwhile, Ben Guzman, the Municipal Administrator of Kabacan, highlighted in his talk that DXVL has become a significant part in the lives of every Kabakeño.
“DXVL has become a daily companion [of] our people, educating, informing, inspiring…” he underscored.
The celebration convened USM faculty members and staff, representatives of partner agencies, the employees of the Local Government of Kabacan, and members of the community.
It is worth noting that the station was transferred to the University Information and Communication Technology Office (UICTO) in May 2021 for a better signal. Embracing the evolving media landscape and making its programs more accessible to a wider audience, DXVL now broadcasts not only over the radio but also online through its official Facebook page.
