The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) once again proved its excellence after capturing two second-place overall finishes and bringing home a total of ₱600,000 in cash incentives during the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Friendship Games and Socio-Cultural Festival 2025, held on October 25–30 in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.

With 36 state universities and colleges (SUCs) from across Mindanao joining, USM clinched second overall in both the Sports and Socio-Cultural categories. The  talented athletes and performers of USM showcased their exceptional skills and earned 57 gold, 39 silver, and 53 bronze medals in sports, along with an impressive 93 points in the socio-cultural competitions.

The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental awarded USM ₱300,000 for each category—a meaningful tribute to the University’s commitment to excellence and passion for success.

This year’s MASTS is guided by its theme: “Empowering Youth, Strengthening Accountability: Building a Responsible Nation Through Sports, Culture, and the Arts,”

USM salutes all the athletes as well as their coaches for bringing honor and pride to our university. You all make us proud!
