USM Opens its Doors to JRMSU for Benchmarking Opportunities

									Students from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) dominated the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Provincial Elimination held on October 23, 2025, at Brookside Hotel, Kidapawan City.
Psalm Pancho, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE) student, took the top spot. His fellow USM students Jinn Allan Luaña, BS Microbiology student, and Adrian Untal from BS Applied Mathematics, followed closely, earning the first and second runner-up titles. Christian Oropel of USM–Kidapawan City Campus ranked fourth, while Jacob Villarba of Colegio de Kidapawan rounded out the top five finishers.
The provincial elimination brought together 35 first-year students from various colleges and universities across Cotabato Province. It was organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)–Cotabato Provincial Statistical Office as part of the 36th National Statistics Month celebration.
The five winners will advance to represent Cotabato Province in the Regional Level Competition, where they will compete against participants from other provinces in Soccsksargen.
The USM students were coached by Prof. Daryl Mae Mamon, Prof. Roel Salvador Valenton, and Prof. Dominic Condez Carajay of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the College of Science and Mathematics.
