The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) shared its best practices in managing income-generating projects (IGPs), including its trade fair, Panagburas, and intellectual property policies, during the 3rd Benguet State University–University Business Affairs Summit on October 27–28, 2026, in Benguet.
On the second day of the summit, the USM delegation presented the university’s practices to participants from state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Luzon, according to Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (IPTTBDO) Director Associate Professor Jalaloden B. Marohom.
Marohom said participants expressed interest in USM’s trade fair and Panagburas, as well as the office’s policies approved by the Board of Regents (BOR).
Vice President for Resource Generation and Entrepreneurial Services Samsudin S. Panday attended the summit with Business Development Center Director Associate Professor Esmaira Gunsayan and Marohom.
VP Panday said the summit gave state universities and colleges (SUCs) with income-generating projects (IGPs) a chance to share experiences and learn from one another’s best practices.

“It’s an opportunity for SUCs with IGPs to come together, share insights, and learn from each other’s best practices. Through the benchmarking activity, marami pa kaming puwedeng ma-explore para sa IGPs ng USM,” he said.
He also pointed to the potential of linking research, development, and extension (RDE) with production to help bring research outputs to the market. However, he noted that intellectual property (IP) filings must be completed first before commercialization.
The summit also covered procurement challenges and opportunities for IGPs, compliance with procurement laws, green enterprise development, and intellectual property protection.
The event carried the theme “Partnerships and Innovation: Transforming Income Generating Projects into Inclusive Model Green Enterprise.”
