The University of Southern Mindanao, received the silver cluster award and bronze as other citation from Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) for its excellence in promoting innovation, improving Intellectual Property systems, and delivering impactful technology transfer during the Presidents’ Summit and General Assembly 2026 on March 25–26 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
Dr. Debbie Marie B. Verzosa, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension, and Dr. Jalaloden B. Marohom of the Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (IPTTBDO), together with staff member Aira Sarip, received the award.
According to ITSO, these Top-performing officers were awarded as they have shown strong commitment and leadership.
The event gathered university leaders to strengthen direction and partnership with Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. Government agencies and industry partners shared updates on innovation, technology transfer, and IP management.
Moreover, experts and ITSO leaders shared best practices and real experiences. Their insights helped guide current and future innovators in improving their work and strengthening innovation systems in the country. The discussions also showed how teamwork, clear roles, and strong policies can support Technology and Innovation Support Centers and help protect Filipino ideas.

ITSO managers and staff also joined sessions that guided them in their daily work. These focused on new programs, policies, and processes for patent and utility model applications.
The event opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking 15 years of building and strengthening Philippine Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs). It symbolized unity among leaders and institutions working together to promote innovation and support sustainable technology transfer in the Philippines.
