October 22, 2026
The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) presented the draft Regional Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization (RAFM) Plan and Small-Scale Irrigation (SSIM) Plan during a stakeholders’ consultation led by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office XII on October 19–20, 2026, at London Beach Resort, General Santos City.
Dr. Shieryl P. Ortiz, USM’s lead consultant, presented the two draft plans with the rest of the team for review and discussion.
During the two-day consultation, stakeholders reviewed the proposed plans, validated existing Farm Cluster Areas (FCAs), and discussed the approved Farm-to-Market Road Network (FMRN) Plan.
The consultation also included a workshop using the three-tier model for agricultural development: foundation and stabilization; optimization and value chain enhancement; and market expansion, commercialization, and agri-industrial integration.
Stakeholders shared their comments and recommendations to help ensure that the proposed plans reflect the needs and priorities of Region XII.
The plans are expected to be submitted to the Economic Development Council for review and approval, with endorsement to the Regional Development Council targeted by November 5, 2026.
