USM Discusses Future Developments with PNP-PIAS

In preparation for the upcoming ASEAN Day 2025, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) held a coordination meeting with representatives from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Cotabato Province and selected State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on August 6, 2025, at Central Mindanao Colleges – Annex Campus, Kidapawan City.
The meeting was conducted in line with the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office (CHEDRO) XII’s initiative to hold a regional-level celebration of ASEAN Day on August 29, 2025, to be hosted by USM.
A total of 14 institutions participated in the discussion. It covered the division of tasks, committee assignments, competition mechanics, and other program activities aligned with the goals of ASEAN integration and cooperation in higher education.
USM, as the host institution, emphasized the significance of inter-school collaboration and cultural participation to highlight ASEAN values of unity in diversity, regional peace, and educational advancement.
Also representing the USM were Dr. Leorence C. Tandog, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Prof. Bryan Bretaña, Director of the Office of International Affairs; Ms. Emily Montero, Supervising Administrative Officer; Ms. Laksni C. Catubay, Administrative Officer; and Ms. Charlotte Andrea Tutor, Information Officer.
CHEDRO XII’s ASEAN Day celebration aims to engage students across the region through academic and cultural contests, exhibitions, and dialogues that deepen understanding of the ASEAN community.
