The University of Southern Mindanao-Bachelor of Arts in Political Science finished 1st runner-up in a Quiz Bowl Competition during “The Daughters of Eve in War: Mainstreaming Women, Peace, and Security Agenda” forum at the University Gymnasium, Mindanao State University General Santos City.
Under the guidance of Dr. Erwin A. Mallo, Chairperson of the USM Department of Social Science and Philosophy, and Datu Moden C. Talandig, Political Science Program Head, team leader John Ryan Fernandez planned the team’s strategy, emphasizing moves, focus, and composure. The team comprised Mark Vincent Gaspan, Caithlyn Samoy, R-Jay Puyong, and Jorea Kama.

𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙬𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙖 2-𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙩.” Team Leader Fernandez stated in an interview.
Fernandez also expressed gratitude to University President, Francisco Gil N. Garcia, PhD, and Dean of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, Professor Marcos F. Monderin, JD, for their overwhelming support.
The participating institutions included Mindanao State University-General Santos, Mindanao State University-Maguindanao, Holy Trinity College, Notre Dame of Dandiangas, Notre Dame of Koronadal, Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), and the University of Southern Mindanao (USM).
