The University of Southern Mindanao (USM), in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), held a Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) registration activity on March 27, 2025, at the USM Commercial Building.
The initiative aimed to assist first-time registrants in acquiring their digital certificates and signatures, essential tools for enabling secure, authenticated, and paperless transactions.

Prof. Eugene G. Ranjo, Director of the University Information and Communication Technology Office (UICTO), emphasized the growing importance of PNPKI in academic and administrative settings. “Unlike traditional signatures that can be easily forged, PNPKI is encrypted and password-protected. It ensures document authenticity and allows users to track the progress of their transactions, making the process both safer and more efficient,” he explained.
The event was attended by faculty and staff from various USM offices, demonstrating the university’s proactive approach to digital transformation.
This collaboration with DICT reinforces USM’s commitment to modernizing its systems, ensuring data security, and delivering quality public service through technology-driven solutions.
