The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) through its University Guidance Counselor and College Guidance Coordinators participated in the 60th Annual National and International Conference of the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association Inc. on May 21-23, 2025 at the Manila Hotel & St. Scholastica’s College Manila.
The USM delegates were Imelda Silao, Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC), the University Guidance Counselor along with the Guidance Coordinators to wit, Bernadith Borja of College of Agriculture, Normie Pabinal of College of Arts and Social Sciences, Norjaida Maliga of IMEAS, and Sandra Paidomama of College of Education.
According to Guidance Counselor Silao, the event was chance to refuel camaraderie with other professionals and share best practices in their regions of co-counselors and mental health advocates.
“All guidance counselors/college guidance facilitators shall learn and grow and have access to the highest quality resources and training; promote the importance of helping students and clients compassionately especially in their well-being and mental health.” She remarked.
Guided by its theme, “PGCA Legacy: Stories to Conquer New Glories”, the annual event showcased talks and workshops from professionals and experts in the field of guidance and counselling, psychology, and psychiatry.
