
USM, Landbank Ink MOA for Iskolar ng Landbank Program

Strengthening its role in shaping the future of Philippine Higher Education, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) took part in the First State University and Colleges (SUCs) Executive Forum 2025 on June 9-10, 2025 at Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU), Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.
University President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, together with Faculty Association President Prof. Willie Jones B. Saliling, Finance and Management Services Director Dr. Jay-R G. Vildac, and Office of Legal Services Director Atty. Sunny Rye M. Nogalo joined other SUC leaders from across the country in two days of in-depth discussions, workshops, and collaborative sessions on issues affecting higher education institutions.

Further, key topics included board protocols, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) policy updates, legal reforms, digitalization, SUC leveling, and monitoring of Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plans (LUDIP) were discussed. Also, a dedicated session on mental wellness was facilitated by Dr. Emmanuel F. Silan that focused on leadership resilience and emotional grounding in public service.
Spearheaded by CHED Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III, the forum carried the theme “34 Strong Leaders Committed to One Vision, One Goal: Forging a Unified Vision for Philippine Higher Education.”
