Students and personnel from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) joined the 47th YMCA National Congress of College Students and 27th YMCA National Campus Club Advisers’ Seminar-Workshop on December 6-9, 2025 at Senior Mess, Teachers’ Camp, Baguio City.
The annual gathering aims to help young people better understand and appreciate the issues in society that affect their daily lives. It also provides a space where students can openly share their ideas, hopes, and concerns so they can identify the challenges their generation faces. In addition, the event seeks to guide the youth in finding practical ways to achieve their goals and, together with their peers, map out personal and group plans that will support their journey toward a brighter future.

During the congress, students and advisers first came together for the keynote address and the presentation of the main topics. After these joint sessions, they attended workshops and small group discussions.
One of the highlights of the event was the regional showcase, where different schools presented native songs—both vocal and instrumental—as well as traditional dances from their provinces. The audience was able to enjoy and appreciate the culture and talent of each region.
The congress also held various competitions, including debate, essay writing, extemporaneous speaking, on-the-spot drawing, pagsulat ng sanaysay, photography, spoken poetry, and Tuklas Talino. The event wrapped up with “Y’ers Got Talent,” where participants confidently showcased their best performances.

The following are the winners in different competitions from USM:
