The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) shared its expertise on internationalization and digital transformation during the Faculty Development Program on Global Strategies organized by the General Santos Doctors’ Medical School Foundation, Inc. (GSDMSFI) on September 22, 2025, at GSDMSFI, General Santos City.

The forum, which carried the theme “Global Strategies: Best Practices in Internationalization and World Rankings,” featured USM’s distinguished faculty members as guest speakers.

Prof. Bryan Lloyd P. Bretaña, Director of the Office of International Affairs, delivered a lecture on the importance of internationalization in higher education. He discussed how globalization models, international partnerships, and digital transformation play a crucial role in raising a university’s profile and competitiveness in world rankings.

Bretaña also emphasized that internationalization efforts open doors for student and faculty mobility, expand research visibility, and strengthen institutional collaboration.

Prof. Eugene Ranjo, Director of the University Information and Communication Technology Office, presented a talk on best practices in higher education website development and optimization. He underscored that a university website is not just a source of information but a strategic platform that reflects institutional identity, supports academic services, and connects with global audience. Ranjo highlighted the importance of accessibility, mobile responsiveness, search engine optimization, and continuous updates to ensure digital relevance.

Prof. Alvin Mibalo, Senior Web Developer of USM, led a workshop on web enhancement. His session provided practical guidance on content management, user engagement, and ensuring inclusive and efficient online platforms.

Through the knowledge-sharing sessions, USM highlighted how internationalization and digital transformation can open new opportunities for institutions in General Santos City and beyond, strengthening the region’s presence in the global academic community.
