In order to align the curriculum and goals to the University Health Care and Sustainable Development Goals of the Philippines, the University of Southern Mindanao Futures Thinking Team organized a two-day capacity building activity for the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences on Sustaining National Agenda for Health and Well-being. The activity was held at Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, Davao City on November 28-29, 2022.

During the capacity building, lectures on the importance of historical context, COVID response, universal health care trends, and health status of the province were discussed. Workshops on patterns of change in the local medical field and analysis were also conducted. Mr. Emmanuel de Guia, resident Futurist of the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, Innovations, and Futures Thinking (SDGIFT), Ms. Ma. Christine Reyes, Director of Aptissimi Development Innovations, Inc, and Ms. Jalaine Joyce V. Malabanan, Chief of the Center for Futures Research, Research Institute for Strategic Foresight and Innovation served as the resource speakers and facilitators of the event.

The event was participated by the USM President, Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia, VP for Research Development and Extension, Dr. Ma. Teodora N. Cabasan, selected professors and medical practitioners in USM, and the USM Futures Thinking Team.
