Two innovations from Cotabato Province and an incubatees of the USM ATBI Siklab were named among the nine finalists of Filipinnovation Awards 2025 held at the Greenleaf Hotel in General Santos City last August 14, 2025.

USM Foods Halal Chevon Products by Dr. Jalaloden B. Marohom and Dr. Ivy Mar Cabornida, offers ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat goat meat products that are halal verified. It aims to reach Filipino households and improve the livelihood of halal goat farmers. Meanwhile, the Sumoki Liquid Deodorizer by Honorio C. Galanido, Sr., offers a sustainable and practical solution for odor control. The technology provides the market with an affordable product for sanitation, addressing environmental challenges while promoting health and well-being.

The Filipinnovation Awards aims to recognize Filipino ingenuity across sectors, and provides a stage for innovators to pitch their technologies, connect with potential partners, and explore pathways for commercialization. DEPDev Undersecretary, Hon. Rosemarie G. Edillon, mentioned in her remarks, that the top 3 finalists from Mindanao will advance to the national competition.

The event was concluded by announcing the top 3 who will represent Mindanao at the national competition and these are Bambujett: Bamboo Treatment System, Studentship.ph, and 3D Vector Apparatus.

USM’s presence in this year’s roster of finalists highlights the power of homegrown innovation from Cotabato Province which may drive real change. These breakthroughs show how university research can be turned into solutions that may uplift communities and strengthen industries.
