The University of Southern Mindanao – College of Veterinary Medicine (USM-CVM) held its Honoring Program for the October 2025 Veterinarians Licensure Examination (VLE) passers on November 27, 2025, at the USM Commercial Building, Kabacan, Cotabato.

USM President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel was represented by Dr. Samsudin S. Panday, the Vice President for Resource Generation and Entrepreneurial Services. He commended the honorees for their perseverance and commitment to veterinary medicine, a field he described as noble and essential to animal welfare, public health, and community service.

In his message, he emphasized that passing the licensure examination is “a testament to your dedication, hard work, and unwavering passion for the noble profession of animal care and public health.” He noted that the honorees’ achievement reflects academic excellence, resilience, and discipline, qualities vital in serving communities and upholding the highest standards in veterinary practice.

Dr. Panday also recognized the role of parents in the success of the graduates. Sharing his own experience as a parent, he highlighted how families share the emotional journey of their children’s pursuit of their dreams. “If you are happy, maybe more tears will be shed by your parents,” he said, pointing out how deeply families celebrate this milestone.

Dr. Pimentel, through Dr. Panday, expressed gratitude to the families for their trust in USM and encouraged the new veterinarians to continue inspiring others.

“Congratulations. Continue to inspire others and pursue excellence in all that you do. We are 100% sure that the world of veterinary medicine welcomes you with open arms,” he ended.

One of the program’s highlights was the message from honorees, one of the honorees, Dr. Kristelle Mendoza, reflected on her journey marked by challenges, delays, and eventually triumph. She shared that “today is more than just a celebration of passing an exam, it’s a celebration of every sleepless night, every tear shed, every prayer whispered in fear and in faith.” She recalled a significant setback in her fifth year when she failed a subject, which delayed her academic progress. Despite the discouragement, she held on to her goals, drawing strength from her faith, especially the verse Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

According to Dr. Mendoza, her delays ultimately taught her resilience and trust in timing. “Because of the delays that happened to me, I realized that God is on time. God allowed this to happen to make me stronger and teach me to trust His timing,” she said, encouraging fellow graduates to persevere through challenges.

The Honoring Program also served as a moment of institutional pride for the College of Veterinary Medicine. On October 30, 2025, the Professional Regulation Commission released the results of the October 2025 Veterinarians Licensure Examination, where USM was recognized as one of the Top Performing Schools under Category B, achieving an 86.89% overall passing rate. This accomplishment underscored the strength of USM’s Veterinary Medicine program and the dedication of its faculty and graduates.

The event gathered the honorees, their families, faculty members, and CVM administrators in a celebration of academic excellence and achievement, marking USM’s commitment to producing competent, compassionate, and service-oriented veterinarians for the country.
