KALAMANSIG, SULTAN KUDARAT – In its continued commitment to inclusive development and community empowerment, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) – through its Extension Services Office (ESO), Gender and Development (GAD) office, and Sentro ng Wika at Kultura, conducted a community outreach activity in Sitio Blanga, Barangay Nalidan, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat on July 31, 2025.

The initiative focused on promoting health and hygiene among Grade 5 and 6 learners of the Manobo-Dulangan tribe, an Indigenous group residing in a geographically isolated area.

Dr. Radji A. Macatabon, Director of Sentro ng Wika at Kultura, together with his team distributed hygiene kits and conducted educational sessions on essential hygiene practices, including proper handwashing, oral hygiene, and grooming.

This initiative serves as a foundational step toward encouraging long-term healthy habits among the children, habits that not only improve individual well-being but also contribute to the collective health of the community. Through this effort, USM and its partner offices reaffirm their commitment to empowering Indigenous learners and strengthening health awareness in underserved areas.
