The University of Southern Mindanao – College of Medicine holds a White Ceremony today, February 16, 2024, at the USM Commercial Building, USM, Kabacan Cotabato.

As the Guest Speaker, Prof. Marcos F. Monderin, the OIC Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), framed his message around Aristotle’s mantra, “𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩; 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣; 𝙞𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 – 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙮.”

VPAA Monderin also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the University President, Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia, for his strong support toward the College of Medicine establishment.

Dr. Eimer M. Estilloso, the Vice President for Administration and Finance, gave an inspirational message centering on the knowledge, values, and compassion of medical students as future healthcare professionals.“…𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙤𝙞𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨. 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘽𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙬𝙖 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙚 𝙖𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙,” he expressed.

Through the leadership of Dr. Dahlia S. Arancel, the Dean of the College of Medicine, several plans were devised for the upcoming months. In her speech, she emphasized the visible role of medicine students ‘Wear your white uniform with pride – this reflects your status. Never tarnish it. Padayon ta. Go and move on despite the challenges and problems. Reach your dreams.’

To recall, the USM Board of Regents approved the College of Medicine and the offering of Doctor of Medicine under Resolution No. 12, Series of 2021, with its mission to help accelerate socio-economic development and improve the quality of life through instruction.
