General Marc “GM” Manero Bangoy, a Grade 11 student from the University Laboratory School–University of Southern Mindanao (ULS–USM) set a new Philippine record after scoring 691 points in the Under-18 Men’s Recurve (60 meters) event of the 2026 National Training Pool (NTP) and National Youth Training Pool (NYTP) Selection, held January 27 to February 1 at the STI Gold Toe Archery Range, Marikina City.

Bangoy registered the record in the 72-arrow qualifying round, surpassing the previous national mark recognized by World Archery Philippines. He also exceeded his own earlier scores twice during the selection meet.

He finished Rank 1 in his division, maintaining the lead from the opening day through the final round of the five-day competition. His performance secured him a slot in the National Youth Team Philippines.

World Archery Philippines confirmed Bangoy’s score as the new national record holder for the Under-18 Men’s Recurve (60 meters) category.

He is set to represent Cotabato Province in the upcoming SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) Meet in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
