The University Laboratory School (ULS) held its Citizenship Advancement Training (CAT) presentation on April 11, 2025 at the Dominador D. Clemente (DDC) field, where 223 cadets, including 15 officers were recognized for completing their training.
Led by CDT/LT COL Angelo John Bermudez as Battalion Commander, the event highlighted the hard work of 208 cadets and their leaders after months of physical training, leadership exercises, and military-style drills. The group was divided into Alpha, Bravo, and Headquarter Companies, along with special teams like medics, band members, headquarters staff, and military police.
Forty-eight aspiring leaders trained and endured the physical, mental, and discipline-based challenges. Only fifteen officers were selected after a 15-day Cadet Officer Leadership Training (COLT) held in July 2024. The CAT sessions started in August 2024 and were held every Friday under the guidance of ULS CAT Commandant, Prof. Maybell S. Martin.

USM President Jonald Pimentel PhD, a former CAT cadet himself, gave an inspiring message during the presentation.
“hindi madali ang pagiging CAT Cadets, wag niyo isipin dahil tumatanda na kayo, wala na kayong kakatakutan sa buhay. Fear is evitable always remember that the bible says in ISAIAH 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” The President remarked.
He also reminded cadets to count their blessings and value their training, teachers, and families.
The ceremony ended with the message from Prof. Martin. In her message she acknowledged ULS teachers, staff, and parents for their strong support to the ULS students. Ms. Martin was assisted by her Assistant Commandants Mr. Eliezer T. Magallanes and Mr. Donald Ray C. Macailing.
