World Coffee Research (WCR) announced the recipients of six research grants, two of which were awarded to three faculty members of the USM College of Agriculture. The awards are on behalf of the Philippine Coffee Advancement and Farm Enterprise (PhilCAFE) project, and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The faculty members and their projects are:

Dr. Tamie C. Solpot: “Enhancing Productivity of Robusta Coffee through Organic-Based Fertilization for Increased Profitability”

Bernadith T. Borja and Neil Pep Dave N. Sumaya: “Disease Profiling and Development of Weather-based Models in Forecasting Coffee Disease Epidemics”

By the end of the grant period, the proponents are expected to produce outputs that can contribute to the Philippine coffee industry. Read more about the PhilCAFE project on their project website.
