More than 300 employees of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) registered for Social Security System (SSS) membership and related services during an on-site activity conducted by the SSS-Kidapawan Branch on January 27, 2025.
The activity took place at the USM Commercial Building following the recent salary increase for Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) employees, which required them to register for SSS membership. SSS staff assisted employees with registration and answered their questions on-site. Also, permanent USM personnel also availed the services offered during the activity.
Marcelina B. Borres, an Administrative Officer, encouraged employees to register with SSS, citing the benefits of membership.
“I have already received many benefits from SSS, which is why I encourage others to become members,” Borres said.
She added that the on-site setup allowed employees to receive immediate assistance and eliminated the need to travel to Kidapawan for SSS transactions.
SSS membership provides benefits such as sickness and maternity benefits, disability coverage, retirement pensions, death and funeral benefits, as well as access to salary and calamity loans.
