LAKAS PARTY

Strength is the silent power that turns a voice into a promise kept.
Platforms
  1. Pillar: One Vision (Student Engagement)
    • Quarterly Inter-Council Summits – Establish a recurring forum for the USG and local student leaders to align advocacy priorities and share best practices.
    • Grassroots Advocacy – Ensure student grievances are heard at the highest administrative levels by bridging the gap between student groups.
    • Strengthened Connections – Focus on building stronger bonds between the USG, ASG, LSG, and other diverse campus organizations.
  1. Pillar: The “Inclusive Campus” Initiative
    • Institutionalized Cultural Support
    • Standardize USG partnerships with sectoral organizations (such as USMMUSA) to ensure annual funding and recognition for major religious and cultural observances.
    • Safe Space Policy – Draft and implement resolutions to enhance campus facilities, specifically providing designated areas for prayer, meditation, and quiet study across all colleges.
    • Home for Every Student – Build upon existing successful programs, like Pekagger, to ensure the university remains a welcoming environment regardless of belief or background.
  1. Pillar: Responsive Governance & Transparency
    • Digital Resolution Tracker – Launch an online dashboard that allows students to view the real-time status of USG resolutions—from the “Drafting” phase through “Implementation”—to ensure full accountability.
    • The “Senator’s Hour” – Create regular, informal consultative meetings held within different colleges to gather direct feedback and grassroots perspectives before drafting new policies.
    • Closing the Gap – Actively work to make the USG more accessible to the “average” student who may currently feel disconnected from the Senate.
  1. Pillar: The “Greener USM” (Sustainability & Campus Ecology)
    • Waste-to-Resource Program – Initiate a circular economy project where organic waste from the cafeteria is processed into vermicompost by agriculture students to maintain university landscapes.
    • The “Sustainable Student” Certification – Partner with the administration to create a sustainability seal for student organizations. Groups that reduce paper waste and minimize single-use plastics will receive additional support or formal recognition in annual assessments.
    • Campus Greening – Encourage and support organizations to actively engage in campus-wide greening activities and ecological preservation.
