Dr. Ruben T. Tacado, Division Chief I from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA)- Cotabato Province, conducted a meeting with University of Southern Mindanao President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel on July 24, 2025, to discuss possible areas of cooperation between PCA and the university.
The discussion focused on research, extension programs, and community-based projects that support coconut farmers in Mindanao. Topics included sustainable farming practices, value-adding technologies, and capacity-building activities for local growers.
Dr. Samsudin Panday, Vice President for Resource Generation and Entrepreneurial Services (VPRGES), was present in the meeting. He shared USM’s ongoing initiatives in agriculture and its openness to agency partnerships.
The meeting allowed both sides to exchange ideas on how USM and PCA can work together to support coconut growers and strengthen community-based agriculture in the community.
