The University of Southern Mindanao welcomed the representatives from the New Zealand Embassy who visited on March 19, 2026, to introduce the Manaaki New Zealand Postgraduate Scholarship Programme.
Dyan Mabunga, Head of New Zealand International Development Cooperation, led the visit. She also conducted a lecture at the College of Arts and Social Sciences Audio Visual Room, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

During the session, participants were given information about the scholarship, including eligibility requirements and the application process. The program is open to individuals who show a strong commitment to community service.

The scholarship gives priority to programs related to development, including agriculture and other fields that support community and national growth, while still remaining open to other relevant areas of study.
The Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships, a flagship program of the New Zealand Government, offer opportunities for students from partner countries to pursue postgraduate studies in New Zealand. The term “Manaaki” which means to cherish, conserve, and sustain, reflects the program’s focus on supporting individuals who can contribute to the growth and development of their communities.
The Embassy also encouraged the university to invite qualified applicants, especially those from underrepresented sectors, to apply for the program.
