These are students that have published papers on scholarly journals and have already received, or are due to receive, publication incentives of the university. These research efforts from undergraduate students address the different thematic areas, with innovations in science, engineering and technology as the extensively studied domain.
The University of Southern Mindanao, especially the Research, Development, and Extension unit, hopes that this will inspire more students to actively engage in meaningful research, pursue publication opportunities, and contribute to the growing body of knowledge that addresses real-world challenges. By fostering a culture of academic excellence and innovation, the university envisions a future where student research continues to make a lasting impact within and beyond the academic community. These studies serve not only as contributions to institutional repositories but have also been published in scholarly journals to reach a broader academic audience. Because of these inputs, along with the university researches, USM has been named as the top performing university in region XII for research production in 2024 based on Scopus data compiled by Global Health Focus (GHF). To date, USM made 58 Scopus and Web of Science indexed publications from the year 2024 to May 2025, which not only brings honor to the university but also reinforces its commitment to academic excellence, research impact, and global visibility.
