University of Southern Mindanao (USM) paid tribute to 154 of its employees for their years of dedicated service during the 125th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service held on September 29, 2025, at the University Auditorium.

Under the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal, at Galing Para sa Bayan,” the ceremony honored employees with three awards: 119 received the Kakaw Award for 10–15 years of service, 17 got the Goma Award for 20–25 years, and 18 were given the Kamagong Award for 30–40 years of service.

BGen Ricky P. Bunayog, Commander of the 602nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army, served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. He congratulated the awardees and underscored their vital role in government.

“Public office is a public trust… as public officers and employees, we must at all times be accountable to the people, serve with responsibility, integrity, loyalty, and efficiency, and live modest lives,” Bunayog said.

He added that his guiding principles apply to all public servants: “Serve with purpose and dedication, learn and innovate, and believe that God is watching us as we take care of others.”

The program, organized by the USM Human Resource Management and Development Office headed by Dr. Nerissa G. Dela Viña, concluded with the awarding rites that reaffirmed USM’s pledge to uphold excellence in public service and value the long years of commitment of its employees.
